Nine months later, I sat in my car with my new girlfriend; all dressed up headed out on a date to a classy restaurant.
So yes, I eventually broke up with @Mimi. My boss did turn out to be her uncle and I DID have a splendid Chinese dinner that fateful night. Fortunately and Unfortunately, I DID find out that she really WAS cheating on me. It made the breakup easy really. And I had my new girlfriend to thank for this, because she disclosed the facts to me. Initially I was surprised as to why she’d do that, she really didn’t know me. But back then she simply said,”You are a good guy, you really don’t deserve it. Besides you WERE going to break up with her anyway”
She did have a point, and it was rightly taken.
@Mimi didn’t argue. She apologized, said I was a really nice guy but she wasn’t ready to be tied down to one person at the current stage in her life. Well that was a good joke because she got pregnant 3 months down the line the most random guy ever. Unfortunately for her, @Mum found out and insisted she wasn’t having an abortion. One month and numerous harassments later, she got married at a small private ceremony. I was present at the ceremony… she strategically kept out of my way.
I changed my job a month after. In all honesty, I doubt @Boss ever forgot that I was close to accusing him of dating his niece. He never said anything; he just ‘punished’ me by quietly doubling my work at the office. And when I lodged a (humble) complaint one morning after working till 11pm the previous night, he just gave me his most innocent looking evil grin and said some bullshit about building my competence. He even had the balls to add that he’d take “us” out for Chinese when I was less busy.
I sent him Chinese take outs a week later… AND my resignation letter. I was cheeky enough to add that I was less busy so he could keep that promise. Needless to say, he never kept that promise. *sigh*
My girlfriend held my hand as I drove on. I turned to look at her and she smiled.
“U look awesome in that tux luv”, she said.
I winked at her.
“Not as awesome as you in that dress PAT”
