Tightrope (Bee’s Paradox)… Epilogue

By the time Uncle Steve got to Soji, he had lost consciousness. This didn’t look good at all. People had gathered around Soji and were just talking among themselves… No one had done anything to help. He gently lifted him into his car, careful not to make matters worse.
Once done he called his nurses to prepare a room and sped off for the hospital. He also called Bolaji and Bee’s mother to meet him there. On his arrival, Soji was placed on a stretcher and taken to the ER.
Bee looked stricken as he hurried pass her. He managed a weak smile at her and went in.

Two hours later, they all stood around Soji’s dead body; each nursing his/her thoughts. Bolaji, Bee’s mum, Uncle Steve and Bee herself. Bee couldn’t help but believe that someone in this room had taken Soji’s life. She looked from her mum to her dad and then to Uncle Steve… it was really a bitter end.

…2 MONTHS EARLIER
Bolaji stumbled towards the bed and paused when he came within reach of it. Wait a minute; this wasn’t his wife’s room. He peered closely at the shape in the bed and realized it was Bee… his Bee.
He smiled to himself, turned around and headed out the door. On his way out, he paused at his wife’s door, hissed and headed for his own. Stupid woman, who needs her anyway?

After Bee’s mother left his room, Soji laid there on his bed; in the same nude state as she had left him. He couldn’t believe that madam had slept with him… more like raped him, given the fact that he had just laid there, too shocked and afraid to move a muscle. Apparently his ‘member’ sensed none of this tension and happily rose to the occasion.
He wore his shorts and stood there. Should he tell oga Bolaji? He knew that madam would forever make him regret doing that. Besides, oga wouldn’t believe him anyway and that wouold cause more trouble for him. What would happen tomorrow? He suddenly got really angry! This was how these high class people put people like him in difficult positions and the next thing is that he’ll get sent away… after all he had done to make a life for himself here.
He turned for the door… in that case, he would get ‘it all’ before that happens. He eased out of his room and walked for the stairs. The sitting room was empty now.
He climbed up the stairs and headed towards Bee’s room. He stood there for a minute, softly opened the door, walked in and gently shut the door behind him.

“Did you see who hit him?” Bolaji asked Uncle Steve
“No. I wasn’t that close and I wasn’t with my glasses”
“Hmmmmm”
They all turned to face Bee’s mother.
“Bee let’s go home. You’ve been through enough for one day”
She turned and headed for the door. She felt no remorse for hitting the boy, he’s dead with her secret and that’s that.
“I have to contact his family and make some arrangements. I’ll meet you all at home”
Bolaji walked out the door.
When the door shut behind him, Bee walked over to Uncle Steve.
“I guess it still works out. They’ll never know”
“Yes”
He kissed her. “I love you Bee”
“Love you too Steve”
She walked out.
