===================================================================================
“You have five minutes left Rose.”
Even after she heard this and agreed to talk about Jason, the words didn’t form right in her head. What was she supposed to tell him?
“I love Jason. I want to be with Jason. You don’t understand, what I have with Jason is beyond what I can explain.”
Hardly the words of someone who wanted to live beyond five minutes. Luke might just as well choke her before the poison kicked in.
“Are you seriously going to die for this Jason?”
It wasn’t just the words that jolted Rose out of her thoughts, it was the tone. It was cold, emotionless and evil. If she had any doubt at this point about being poisoned, it evaporated from her thoughts like steam from boiling water.
“I’ll need more than five minutes to explain this. Baby please stop this.”
“It’s four minutes now actually.”
Luke eyed her coldly. It had been a torment for him pretending to keep loving her after he found out her secret. The sounds of her screams and moans for another man were something that he could never ever forget, talk less of letting go. He had staked everything for her and now this?
He had first died inside before coming up with this plan, and now he was committed. She would tell him ALL she knew.
He sighed and got up from the table and went closer to her. She instinctively pulled back, afraid of what he might do. He knelt before her, tears in his eyes again.
“Rose, please tell me. Please. I want to hear this from you. Please. Don’t die foolishly.”
She was crying now. The scent from her perfume filled his nostrils while he took in sights of her body which were visible through the see-through lingerie she wore. The same lingerie… the same lingerie that Jason….
“TELL ME”. He slapped her so hard, she took half the table with her on her way to the ground. Some of the dishes and glasses smashed on the floor, scattering random pieces of glass all over the floor. She remained face down on the ground, sobbing.
From her position, Rose watched as Luke calmly moved away from the broken glass and stood at the corner of the room watching her with those cold eyes of his.
Jason said he would handle this. I trust him, but I must survive this first.
She had been waiting for something to ease the tension in the room, and the slap gave her the chance she needed to act fast. Fact, she had never been slapped like that in her life and was still reeling from it. She actually saw stars for a second or two there. But she took it all in and made a show of falling while grabbing one of the sachets he had dropped on the table.
The antidote!!!
While backing him and pretending to cry, she tore open the sachet and put the contents in her mouth.
Death can wait a little longer, while she found a way to get out of this jam
Jason said he would deal with this!
She stood up slowly, and turned to face him. He just stood there, unfazed. However, his face registered surprise when she intentionally let the empty sachet fall from her hands to the ground. His eyes followed it to the ground and back up to her face.
She smiled. Survival was done, getting out of here was the next thing.
“I take it from the look on your face that I have more than a few minutes to live. Please just let me go and we can talk about this.”
She saw his eyes shift to the piece of glass in her hands and knew he had to take her seriously.
“Hahahahahh. Hahahahahaaahahaaa. Haaaaaaaaahhahahahahaaaaahahaaahaa.”
Luke laughed uncontrollably (more like a crazy person) for a full ten seconds and tried to tell her something in between busts of laughter.
“You…. You… you’re so dead.”
He finally straightened up and stared at her with those cold eyes, clapping his hands.
“Well done babe. You just took a full doze of the poison.”
What was he? I feel fine. I feel…
It was then she noticed the blood that had begun to drip from her nose and mouth. On her way to the ground, as she slowly lost consciousness she heard a knock on the door.
KNOCK! KNOCK!! KNOCK!!!
